“For if I, your Master and Lord, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you an example, so that what I have done for you, you also may do”.
(John 13, 1-15)
Holy Thursday, Day of Brotherly Love.
To be a follower of Jesus is to be a person in service, kneeling before others and with the towel always girded.
We remember, in turn, the New Commandment that Jesus gives us, “love one another as I have loved you”. As St. John says, “If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he sees cannot love God whom he does not see”. (1 Jn 4:20)
We pray that our hearts will be open to practise brotherly love as a means of knowing God.
