Synodal process in the Parish Purísima Concepción of Ti Arriba (Santiago of Cuba)

In the first days of June the synodal process in the parish of Purísima Concepción de Ti Arriba (Santiago de Cuba) was completed in its parish phase. In the communities of Songo (12,000 inhabitants) and La Maya (25,000 inhabitants) it took place in the form of a workshop and during five meetings a special effort was made to listen to the voice of the Spirit and to deepen communion, participation and mission.

As a result of the sharing of more than 80 people in 8 synodal groups, these priorities were identified to continue walking together in the immediate future:

. To open new houses of prayer in the different neighbourhoods of both towns.

. To bring the Word of God to the people as a Message for life.

. More attention to the elderly.

They also sent a message to Pope Francis and to Monsignor Dionisio García Ibáñez, Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba, showing their concern and proposals for a more missionary and supportive Church.

The Workshop was animated and coordinated by the Claretian team, integrated by Fathers Yhipusious, Kelvin and Juventino, three Claretians, from three nations and three continents.

The sixth encounter is planned as a pilgrimage of all the participants to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Caridad de El Cobre, Patroness of Cuba, to present the fruit of this Workshop and to feel her closeness, knowing that they are united in their journey and that she accompanies them and carries them in her Mother’s Heart.
