Serving the Word: 6th May

THURSDAY 6th MAY 2021

John 15, 9-11:

“I have spoken this to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.”

Jesus speaks to us today about joy.

But he does not give us a discourse about it. He tries to pass it on. Because joy is not transmitted by words and decrees, but by contagion. The one who has it is the one who spreads it.

Jesus infects us with joy because he infects us with life and fullness.

Pope Francis is constantly inviting us to joy.

The Gospel of Jesus is not a code of prohibitions and “killjoy” rules, but it is the presentation of a God who is all tenderness, closeness, welcome, forgiveness, mercy, understanding and happiness.

The God of the Gospel is a God who spreads joy.

Today, feel the joy that comes from having such a God.

Good day.
