Commentary for Sunday: Holy Trinity

16 June 2019. (Holy Trinity)
There are many people who say that they are either atheists or agnostics. And if they give us
some explanation we can sense that is because they have received an image of God that does
not corresponds with that of the gospel but a God of theoretical definitions, derived from a
human mentality; a God of theology and philosophy, which cannot go beyond what
reasoning allows. God is a mystery, and as such, unreachable through reason. But not for the
heart.
To understand what love is, one has to be in love. And the one who lives in love has
overflowing feelings and lives in happiness. Other notice this and do not need explanations.
The mystery of God is a mystery of love. He loves us because we are his children and
becomes present in our lives. He is not far away, nor is it that stern judge that some present
him as. He became one like us and he gives us a lesson in life, and gives us his so that we
love as He loves us.
Those who "feel" God in their life do not need definitions, and those who live it transmit an
image of peace, love and forgiveness.
