‘Claretian dream for education’, formation at CIC

The afternoon of March 18 was a time to strengthen the Claretian identity of the teaching staff of the Colégio Internato dos Carvalhos (CIC) with a formation session on the theme “Rootedness and audacity: proximity, tenderness and compassion”.

Online, it was promoted by Fr. Jorge R. Sanchez Palacios, Prefect of the Apostolate of the Province of Fatima. After some brief words to contextualise this formation session, as well as the usual acknowledgements, the session began with a moment of prayer.

The main objectives of this formative moment were the sharing of the objectives outlined by the Congregation in the recent General Chapter of the Claretian Missionaries in the field of Education for the Claretian Schools, as well as the involvement and listening of the different elements of the CIC in relation to the realisation of these objectives.

During the afternoon, besides sharing on the Claretian Dream for Education, there were also several moments of reflection and sharing, both individually and in groups.

It was a very enriching afternoon for all the teaching staff of CIC, since it is fundamental to understand our educational practice as a Mission, just as Anthony Mary Claret was a man of Mission. As Fr. Jorge said in one of his interventions, “only the one who is well rooted is capable of taking risks and being audacious”; it is, therefore, essential to keep in mind, in our daily life and in our educational practice, the motto of the General Chapter of the Claretian Missionaries: “Rooted in Christ and Audacious in the Mission”.

Fr. Jorge ended his speech by introducing the members of the General and Provincial Government, underlining the idea that this Claretian dream is only possible with the help and collaboration of all the people who form part of the Claretian family.

Fr. José Maia, president of the Board of Directors of CIC, expressed his gratitude for this sharing, emphasized the importance of knowing the Entity better and shared with all the people present his satisfaction for the attendance to the online encounter (approximately 300 people).
