Take care of your family: Organize an afternoon activity of pure rest for all family members (a walk, a time of shared reading …)

14th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Mt 11:25-30)

We can see two very different parts in today’s Gospel. On the one hand, an intimate prayer of the Son towards the Father, where Jesus shows him his gratitude for having made us his children and, as in the Magnificat, for choosing humility and repudiating pride.
And on the other hand, the offering of Jesus to go to him, so that his passion may comfort us, inviting us to rest in him. As the song says: “…let me heal the wounds that the work for the Kingdom has caused you…”. In our families we need both things: to live from a continuous attitude of simplicity towards one another because the opposite – pride, arrogance… – gradually undermines the relationship; and to find moments of “rest” in God, who knows about our wear and tear, our wounds, our frictions… and knows better than anyone else how to comfort us.

Proposal to take care of the family this week:
Organize an afternoon of pure rest for all family members (a walk, a time of shared reading…)
