Serving the Word: Mt 5: 1-12

Matthew 5, 1-12:
“Blessed are the poor, those who mourn, suffer, the merciful, the pure of heart, the persecuted”.

One of the great aspirations of human beings is to be happy.
And each person bases their happiness in something or someone.
Jesus, as the new Moses who gives a new law, indicates to us today the path to happiness and tells us that true happiness and genuine joy are not based on having but in being.
It is not the happiness or joy in having money, fame, success, power…
The programme proposed to us by Jesus is quite the opposite. It is based on poverty, of sharing, in the simplicity and humility of heart, not to seek one’s own interests but the interests of others…
In short, it is the same programme on which he based his life.
As we have already commented at some time, the programme of Jesus is to use the “towel” well and “get your hands and apron dirty”.
This indicates that you are working and serving others.

Good day.
