Serving the Word: Mt 1: 1-17

TUESDAY 17 DECEMBER

Matthew 1, 1-17:
“And Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, called Christ.

Today’s Gospel wants to show us that Jesus is fully human.
Like every person, he has a genealogy. Generations follow one another until they reach the direct ascendants of Jesus.
Jesus Christ is one of us. He wanted to become flesh, to become man and to place his tent in our midst.
He marked his arrival in a village, in a family, at a specific time and place. Nothing that is authentically human was strange to him. Nothing that is authentically human is indifferent to him.
Ask the Lord that you too may feel very human. May nothing that people live, suffer and hope for be indifferent to you.
May you have a heart of flesh that is in tune with everything related to being human. You too, incarnate yourself in your world in order to save it.
Good day.
