Serving the Word: Mk 2: 18-22

MONDAY 20 JANUARY 2020

Mark 2, 18-22:
“No one puts new wine into old wineskins; for the skins burst and the wine and the skins perish.

To give us a sense of the relationship that Jesus has with us, today’s Gospel uses the symbol of a wedding feast.
It is a relationship in which joy, hope, and rejoicing reign.
Being with Jesus Christ is always like being at a wedding accompanying the bridegroom, who is himself, savouring that moment of joy, hope and happiness.
Being with Jesus can never lead us to sadness but quite the opposite.
With Jesus everything is new because He is the new wine that renews all things.
Pope Francis tells us that with Jesus, joy is always born and reborn.
May your joy not be born from the superficial or the ephemeral. Nor from the old.
May your joy always be born from your renewed and deep relationship with Jesus Christ.
Do not doubt it: the deeper and more profound your relationship with Jesus, the more novelty you will find in your life and in everything around you.
Always pour the new wine that Jesus brings into the new wineskin of your ever-renewed life.
Thus your joy will always be deep and profound.
Good day.
