Serving the Word: Lk 5: 1-11

Luke 5, 1-11:
“Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch”.

This is the time to “put out into the deep and cast our nets for a catch”.
This is the time to “go out in search of hearts” as Pope Francis tells us.
“Put out into the deep” is to venture into the unknown, to navigate currents which we have never sailed before, to navigate by insecurity, navigate those peripheral seas that have more risks.
I hope that, without leaving what we do, we venture to new things.
And not for the sake of novelty but in a desire to “search for hearts for God”.
It may be that the fears, apathy, the routine… leave us anchored on the shore and we dare not leave, to “put out into the deep”, to “cast out the nets”.
But the Lord is inviting us to go out and to “put out into the deep” and to “throw the nets for a catch”.
Don’t be afraid. By His word, in his name, “go out into the deep” and “cast the net to fish”.
He converts our discouragement and fears into courage, our negativity and impotence into an abundant catch.
Good day.
