Serving the Word: Lk 18: 1-8

Saturday 16 November

Luke 18, 1-8:
“Now will not God see justice done to his chosen who cry to him day and night even when he delays to help them? I promise you, he will see justice done to them and done speedily”.

St. Monica was like that woman who today’s Gospel speaks about. Day and night she cried out to the Lord asking for the conversion of her son Augustine.
And God did not delay. Today her child is a great saint revered by the whole Church.
It can be a good day to review our prayer.
And, in particular, to review our prayer of intercession and our perseverance in it.
The Lord always listens to us. But he does not always satisfy our requests at that moment and as we want it to be carried out. When this happens, we get discouraged, we become impatient…, we believe that God doesn’t care and maybe we even give up praying.
Learn the lesson that Jesus gives to us on this page of the Gospel.
He asks us to be faithful and constant in prayer.
He assures us that God will hear his chosen ones that call to him day and night.
Don’t get tired of praying without getting discouraged and with the certainty that the Lord always hears our pleas.
Good day.
