Serving the Word: Lk 17: 11-19

Wednesday 13 November

Luke 17, 11-19:
“One of the ten lepers, seeing that he was healed, turned back, praising God in a loud voice and fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks”.

In the healing that Jesus performed in the gospel today, the healing of the ten lepers, only one returns, praising God in a loud voice and giving thanks to Jesus.
And this was a foreigner, a Samaritan.
He did not considered himself worthy of the attention of Jesus.
The other nine, full of pride for being Jewish, believed that Jesus did for them what he had to do because he owed it to them.
A grateful person knows that he is not owed anything and every service provided to him is a free gift.
But only the grateful one, the Samaritan, the outsider, was saved by Jesus and not only healed.
The others were cured but not saved.
It was the Samaritan who experienced the merciful love and friendship of Jesus who saved him.
And all of this because he returned to give thanks.
Live thankful for all that you have received. Turn today many times to Jesus to thank him for his love, mercy and salvation.
Appreciate the good day that the Lord also today is going to give you.
Good day.
