Serving the Word: Lk 1: 57-66.80

Luke 1, 57-66.80:
“The time came for Elizabeth to have her child and she gave birth to a son… His name is John… the hand of the Lord was with him”.

We only celebrate the birth of the Virgin Mary and the birth of St. John the Baptist (and, of course, Jesus)
Today, June 24, is the feast of the birth of St John the Baptist. John was already sanctified in the womb of his mother Elizabeth. Elizabeth gives birth to a child who would be called John. A child who belongs to the Lord.
John is destined to take new paths and is chosen for a specific mission: To be the precursor of the Saviour and bring a message of hope and love from God: “The Lord is near.” You are also called to give this good news to everyone in the world.
You are also called to prepare the way of the Lord so that the Lord to be present in each person.
Ask today of the Lord that, like John the Baptist, you may always announce by word and deed the salvation that Jesus brings us.
We congratulate all of you who bear the name of John or Joan.
Good day.
