John 17, 11b-19:
“That they may be one like us…I am not asking you to remove them from the world but to protect them from the evil one….As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into to the world”.
We are approaching the great solemnity of Pentecost.
Pentecost is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the whole church.
That spirit that one day invaded the hearts and lives of the apostles and disciples of Jesus is the same spirit that today is still soaking the hearts of all of us so that we may be witnesses of the risen Lord.
Jesus, with the power of the Spirit, sends us into the world to proclaim with our lives, our works and words the Gospel of Jesus.
Ask today that strength of the Spirit to be his witness wherever your life normally unfolds.Ask for the gifts of the Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.
