Serving the Word: John 11: 19-27

WEDNESDAY 29TH JULY

John 11, 19-27:
“I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and he that lives and believes in me shall never die.”

Those of us who believe in Jesus never celebrate death but always celebrate life.
That life which since the resurrection of Jesus is a full and eternally happy life. We Christians know that the definitive word is not death but life.
That is why the Church often addresses the Father with this beautiful prayer:
“It is truly just and right,
it is our duty and salvation to thank you
always and everywhere,
Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God,
through Christ, our Lord.
In him shines the hope of our happy resurrection;
and so, though the certainty of death saddens us,
we are comforted by the promise of future immortality.
Because the life of those who believe in you, Lord, does not end, it is transformed;
and as our earthly dwelling place is destroyed, we acquire an eternal mansion in heaven.
Thank the Lord today for the LIFE he is continually giving us.

Good day.
