FRIDAY 7th JULY 2023
Matthew 9, 9-13:
“As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax counter, and he said to him, “Follow me.” He got up and followed him”.
We all have our “tax counter”.
We sit at it and from it we pass the bill to everyone because we believe that everyone is our debtor.
Jesus today teaches us to get up and leave our “tax counter”.
Stop believing that everyone owes you and that they have to be grateful to you.
The important thing is to follow Jesus and leave our “taxes” to others.
Like Matthew, you too offer a banquet in which you serve gratuitousness and gratitude without measure, and may this banquet last all your days.
May this banquet also be the expression of your joy at having been called by Jesus.
You will surely feel happy. Because in this way, Jesus will also sit at your table and will multiply in abundance all that you give freely and gratefully.
