Serving the Word: 7th April

WEDNESDAY 7th APRIL 2021

Luke 24, 13 – 35:

“Stay with us, for it is evening and the day is almost over”.

Two disciples of Jesus are walking away from Jerusalem after the sad events of Good Friday.

They are walking in disappointment, sadness, pain, despair.

Along the way, a fellow traveller joins them. It is the same Jesus who is hidden from their eyes.

This companion on the road asks them questions. And, in response to their answers, he explains to them from the Word of God the events that have taken place.

In the evening, the three of them sit down to supper. And when the stranger breaks the bread, the eyes of the two travellers open and they recognise Jesus.

Without realising it, the risen Jesus is also walking with you.

Let his Word inflame your heart.

Let the bread of the Eucharist enable you to recognise his presence.

And let his Word and his Eucharist inspire you to proclaim the good news of the Resurrection as it inspired these two disciples.

Keep on living and keep on proclaiming the Easter of Jesus.

Good day.
