THURSDAY 31st MARCH 2022
John 5, 31-47:
“And you do not want to come to me that you may have LIFE!”.
In today’s Gospel Jesus laments that the Jews do not believe in him.
They do not see in the words and deeds the work of God realised.
They are unable to discover the love of the Father in the miracles of Jesus.
They are unable to discover the deeper meaning of his parables.
They even judge aggressively many of his gestures in favour of the weak, the needy and those who suffer for whatever reason.
They close themselves to LIFE: “And you do not want to come to me that you may have life!
We too run the risk of not truly coming to Jesus in order to have LIFE.
We can remain in the anecdotal and superficial and prevent the deep LIFE that Jesus gives us from penetrating us beyond the merely external.
+ Go to Jesus today in a time of prayer.
+ Go to Jesus these days of Lent by receiving the sacrament of Forgiveness.
+ Go frequently to Jesus in the sacrament of the Eucharist.
Then you will have much life.
