Serving the Word: 2nd January

SATURDAY 2 JANUARY 2021

John 1, 19-28:

“When the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask John, ‘Who are you? What do you say about yourself? He answered, “I am the voice crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord”.

John the Baptist is clearly aware of who he is and what his mission is.

He defines himself as the voice that announces the arrival and presence of Jesus.

It would be good that in this context of Christmas, between celebrations, gatherings, meals, lights and entertainment, also personally you would ask “WHO ARE YOU?” and “WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT YOURSELF?

It would be good for you to ask yourself who you are as a Christian and what you say about yourself as a Christian.

In your life, in the way you act, in everything you say, in your relationships with others, in your service, in your availability, in your concern for the weakest do you feel that you are also the voice that cries out to Jesus and the voice that cries out to others to prepare the way to meet him?

Today too we need many “John the Baptists” who are clear about their identity and their mission.

Good day.
