Serving the Word: 29th July

SATURDAY, JULY 29th, 2023

John 11:19-27:

“I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and he that is alive and believes in me shall never die.”

Those of us who believe in Jesus never celebrate death but always celebrate life.

That life which since the resurrection of Jesus is a full and eternally happy life. We Christians know that the definitive word is not death but life.

That is why the Church often addresses the Father with this beautiful prayer:

“It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,

always and everywhere to give you thanks

Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,

through Christ our Lord.

In him the hope of blessed resurrection has dawned;

that those saddened by the certainty of dying

might be consoled by the promise of immortality to come.

Indeed for your faithful,

life is changed not ended,

and, when this earthly dwelling turns to dust,

an eternal dwelling is made ready for them in heaven”.

Thank the Lord today for the LIFE he is continually giving us.

Good day.
