Serving the Word: 24th June

FRIDAY 24th JUNE 2022

Luke 15, 3-7:

“Jesus said, ‘Which of you who has a hundred sheep, and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that has gone astray, until he finds it?'”

I invite you to listen carefully to the words of Jesus, who openly takes the side of the sinner, represented in the lost sheep.

I invite you also to contemplate Jesus’ reactions and gestures motivated by this lost sheep:

1: He leaves the ninety-nine in the field.

2: He goes in search of the one that has gone astray.

3: He does not stop until he finds it.

4: He carries it on his shoulders with great joy.

5: He is happier to have found it than to have the remaining ninety-nine safe.

Contemplate these reactions and gestures of Jesus because all of them immerse you in the great and infinite mercy of God the Father.

The Father loves us to the utmost and continually seeks out those who stray from the way.

Today, feel yourself to be a sheep and a shepherd:

+ sheep, because you need the mercy of the Good Shepherd.

+ shepherd, because you too must seek your brothers and sisters.

Good day to you.
