Serving the Word: 14th September

MONDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER

John 3, 13-17:
“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that none of those who believe in him should perish, but have eternal life.

We are in danger of associating the cross only with pain, tears, mourning and death.
And certainly the cross of Christ is surrender to the end and sacrifice until death.
But, above all, it is life, triumph and resurrection.
The cross of Christ is strength in weakness.
Grace and consolation in pain.
Forgiveness in offence.
Manifestation of the absolute and free love of the Father.
Today, feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, contemplate a cross with faith and love.
Put on it your own crosses and all the crosses you are aware of.
Enliven your hope.
Adore it and show it to a world which, stricken by the cross of a pandemic, is in need of its saving and redeeming power.
Good day.
