“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20, 19-23).
Today we celebrate the great solemnity of the Pentecost.
The Holy Spirit continues to descend upon the Church and continues to guide the Church.
We pray today that the Holy Spirit will fill us abundantly with all his gifts.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, grant us the gift of COUNSEL to enable us to choose at all times what contributes most to the glory of God, to the dignity of the human being and to the creation of a better world.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, and grant us the gift of UNDERSTANDING, so that we may more easily penetrate the mysteries of our faith.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, and grant us the gift of STRENGTH, enabling us to overcome all obstacles that come our way, uniting us intimately to God and keeping us in the service of our brothers and sisters.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, and grant us the gift of WISDOM, leading us always to know what is right in your eyes.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, and grant us the gift of PATIENCE, that it may lead us to do with joy all that is the service of God and the service of the brethren.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, and grant us the gift of SCIENCE, that it may enable us to know God and ourselves more deeply and that it may enable us to understand others.
+ Come, Holy Spirit, and grant us the gift of the FEAR OF GOD, that we may always do what is pleasing to the Father.
Happy Pentecost!
