Joy and activity in the parishes of our Province in May

Communions, crosses, processions, special days, events… the month of May has brought much joy and activity to the parishes of our Fatima Province. We review some of them:

Heart of Mary Parish Las Palmas (Spain). On 13 May last, the Rosary of the Dawn was celebrated in the streets of the parish. In addition, since the beginning of May, first communions have been celebrated until the 3rd of June in which the young people who have been in Christian initiation for three years will receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time, as well as continuing to grow in their faith.

Nuestra Señora de El Pilar Parish in Tenerife (Spain). Last Saturday 6th May a group of young people received their First Holy Communion. In the simplicity of the Eucharist, the joy of the children, their families and friends was evident. In addition, the children made a gesture of solidarity: they made a donation that will go to the Lerchundi Home in Tangier (Morocco), which takes in and works with children.

Holy Spirit Parish of Granada (Spain). On Saturday, May 13, the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was transferred from the Claretian Theologate to the Parish of the Holy Spirit, where it remains during the whole week for a triduum in her honour. During the transfer there were very touching moments, as the image was brought close to the elderly people of the Claret Residence of Granada. On 21 May the Virgin will return to the Teologado in procession. Previously, the poster announcing the event was presented by Juan de Dios Morillas, with photography by Jaime Díaz.

Nuestra Señora del Carmen Parish Church in Malaga (Spain). The Delegation of Proclade Betica in Malaga and the Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel organised the 18th Missionary May Cross on 13 and 14 May, with the donations raised going to the Education Changes Lives (ECV) programme in Zimbabwe: Karicoga Project, Support for University Studies and Rural Digital Education. Precisely, in Zimbabwe, there are three Claretian missionaries from Malaga: Joaquín Béjar, Álvaro Jover and Antonio Llamas.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (Los Padres de Almendralejo, Spain). On the 14th May last, the Eucharist of the Family was celebrated by Fr. Antonio Ávila, cmf. In addition, on May 15, San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of farmers and farm workers, was commemorated with a Eucharist and procession in the presence of the Mayor, José María Ramírez, and the Community of Farmers. On 21 May the 11th procession of the Cross will take place.

Paróquia Nossa Senhora de Areosa (Porto, Portugal). The children who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion celebrated the Feast of the Word with their community.

Parish of Tondela (Portugal). On 7 May, Mother’s Day, the young people in their first year of catechesis received the ‘Ave Maria Prayer’ accompanied by their families and the parish community.

Parish of Agualva (Portugal). On 12 May, the parish community held the candlelight procession in honour of Our Lady of Fatima through the streets of the neighbourhood.
