The Child Jesus was worshipped by the three Wise Men (Mt 2 1-12) as a symbol of the recognition that Christ is the saviour of all humanity.
Giving gifts to children on 6th January commemorates the generosity of these Magi in adoring the Child Jesus and giving Him gifts, bearing in mind that “whatever you do to one of these little ones, you do it to me” (Mt 25:40). To the children by making them live beautifully and delicately the fantasy of the event and to the adults as a sign of love and faith in the newborn Christ.
We also pray for all those people who cannot celebrate this event, but who can also receive some gesture that will certainly be a gift.
