Commentary for Sunday: II Easter

28 April 2019( 2º T P C)
Each year, during these days of Easter, the experience those rough fishermen of Galilee lived through never ceases to surprise me and move me . They have seen that what they hoped for as their Lord and Messiah, had been killed nailed to a cross, and for fear that something like that might happen to them, they shut themselves off, are filled with fear and dare not go out on the street.
Suddenly, in the midst of their confinement, Jesus appears alive, and they are filled with peace and joy. They see him, they live it, and it radically changes their life.
No longer are they afraid, they leave their confinement and out into the world to tell what they have experienced. And have no problem even if they have to give their life to tell what they have seen. Even Thomas (the one who said “If I don’t see him, I will not believe it”).
During this Easter Season let us renew and revive our faith to be able to say with Thomas: My Lord and my God! And that we are not afraid or embarrassed to proclaim to the world that Jesus lives again and is with us.
