January 5th, 2020. Second Sunday after Christmas (Jn 1:1-18):
“In the beginning…” How good it is to be reminded from time to time of the “beginning” of things, the origin of what we do, the meaning of our life! Because we often let ourselves be carried away by this frenetic maelstrom in which a large part of our society operates and we forget fundamental things. One of them – but the most important – is that God is the creator of everything that exists. Of each one of us as well. And that His desire is to “camp” among us to fill our lives with abundance, with “grace after grace”. It is a pity that, as is often said, we lose sight of this and we blur our vital horizon by dedicating ourselves to things that are often very distant from that “principle and foundation”.
We have only a few days left of the Christmas season, this beautiful time that refreshes that “principle” of everything (but which is also overshadowed by so many things: shopping, gifts, consumption…!) Let’s not miss the opportunity to put our hearts back into what really matters, because when we manage to do so… how different things look; the good ones are enjoyed more; the less good ones are made relative. Everything becomes an occasion of “grace after grace”.
Well then, back to the “beginning”…
