February 1st is the day of remembrance of all our Claretian martyrs. We remember them and thank the Lord for their fidelity to the end.
As the message of the Superior General, Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, highlights: “Their memory challenges us to be faithful in everything, starting with the small fidelities of our daily lives. I often think with admiration of the missionary culture of the communities of our martyrs and of the whole Congregation, who courageously confronted the hostile political and social attitudes towards the Church that dominated at that time. It was a prophetic stance. They saw life and its purpose through a different lens from the ideologies of the day. Our brothers preferred to embrace death rather than renounce Christ to please others”.
Let us ask through the intercession of our martyred brothers the gift of fidelity to our prophetic charism.
