The Meeting of Major Superiors and General Government held in Nairobi (Kenya) under the theme ‘Rooted and Bold’ came to an end after two weeks (5-17 September) of intense daily living together, both spiritually and in dialogue and discernment.
Mathew Vattamattam CMF, has dedicated some words to the congregation at the end of the meeting:
We warmly thank the brothers of the Independent Delegation of St. Charles Lwanga, for their efforts in organising, hosting and attending to the smooth running of this meeting, and also to all those behind the scenes who made it possible for this meeting to take place and to reach each of the communities that embody our life and mission. The place chosen, the Dimesse Sisters’ House in Nairobi, was a good choice; with a gracious heart for the sisters, we noted that there was no lack of smiles, small gestures, spirit of work and dedication, silence and space to meet and walk together.
We have been invited to look at our congregational organisation as a constellation, so as to make more visible the relationships, networks and synergies that articulate our life and mission which are at the service of the Kingdom in synodal communion with a church of diverse faces.
Dear brothers and sisters, the synodal journey from Talagante (2020, Chile, before the pandemic by COVID-19) to Nairobi has been long and rich, but it does not end here. Soon we will return to our organisations and communities with the desire to share this rich experience in order to continue walking together to realise the dream. May the horizon of the celebration of 175 years of foundation be a true experience of enlightenment and grace in the awareness that it is the Lord who guides our steps.
We entrust the fruit of this synodal journey to the Heart of Mary, that she may accompany us, comfort us in our weariness and encourage us to be rooted and daring like our Founder and our martyrs.
