On Saturday 16th December, some young people from Portugal gathered at Casa da Juventude Claret (Carvalhos, Portugal), to celebrate Young Christmas 2023. It was a day of sharing, conviviality, prayer and rebirth.
A few words from Pope Francis, “The Lord comes among us in the silence and darkness of the night, because the Word of God does not need spotlights or the clamour of human voices. He himself is the Word that gives meaning to existence. He is the light that illuminates the way”, they gave the atmosphere of the meeting. May the light of God continue to enkindle their hearts!
We share some testimonies of the participants:
Maria João
“The Young Christmas was a day of sharing and personal reflection, socialising with other young people and listening to each other’s testimonies and ways of thinking was extremely enriching!”
Antônio
“For me, Young Christmas was a challenge to my faith, a test. It was also a reminder of the way I love and care for my neighbour. It was a beautiful day, not only to cultivate my faith, but also friendships.”
Simão
“Young Christmas, as well as being a time for sharing and socialising, was a time to reflect on the love that God gives us. It allowed me to reflect on how I live charity and the values of Christianity, concluding on how I can be more and better Christian. It was a rewarding and enriching experience”.
Mafalda
“I really enjoyed the Young Christmas, it was an opportunity to meet with God and socialise with various people, both those I knew and others I didn’t. It was an amazing day of reflection!”
Lara
“Young Christmas was a rewarding experience that I will carry with me for life, with moments that will remain in my heart. I met and socialised with new people. I felt in a welcoming environment that helped me to strengthen my friendship with Christ, and for a moment I was able to talk to God internally and feel his presence by my side. I hope there will be more days like this.
