WORKSHOP ON INTERCULTURALITY

The second edition of the Workshop on Interculturality, held from 23rd September to 24th November last year, brought together 163 participants from various branches of the Claretian Family, exceeding expectations in both participation and overall feedback. There are already around twenty Claretian missionaries from Fátima, in addition to the Provincial Government, who have participated in this training.

Key Outcomes:

  • High Participation: Of 197 applications, 163 were accepted, marking a significant increase compared to previous editions.
  • Cultural Diversity: For the first time, nearly 50 members of the Religious of Mary Immaculate (RMI), 7 from the Cordimarian Affiliation, and 25 laypeople joined the workshop.
  • Completion Rate: 74.9% of those enrolled successfully completed the course.
  • Languages Offered: The workshop was conducted in Spanish, English, and French, with a total of 8 dynamic groups.

Participants’ Feedback:

Attendees highlighted the richness of the content, which combined theory with practical examples, and praised the quality of the tutors, who facilitated learning from an inclusive and respectful perspective. Furthermore, the opportunity for dialogue and sharing experiences was valued as key to transformative training.

Challenges and Improvements for 2025:

Although the workshop was a success, areas for improvement were identified:

  • Group Size Reduction: Groups will decrease from 10-12 to 8-10 participants to enhance dynamics.
  • New Materials: Specific annexes will be introduced to better represent all participating branches.
  • Motivation and Commitment: Strategies will be developed to increase participants’ engagement and reduce dropouts.

This year, two editions will take place: from 5 May to 6 July and from 23 September to 24 November.

A Significant Impact

The workshop not only reinforced the importance of interculturality in community and missionary life but also consolidated this programme, which is being implemented during the current six-year term. By 2027, the shared goal is for every Claretian Missionary to have undergone this ongoing formation.
