Take care of your family: Participate in some Eucharist together and then discuss what it has meant for each one

SUNDAY OF THE BODY AND THE BLOOD OF CHRIST (Jn 6:51-59)

Today’s Gospel, because of its depth, deserves to be read and reread with care. St. Thomas Aquinas says about it: “The Son of God, wanting us to participate in his divinity… left his flesh as food and his blood as drink under the species of bread and wine”. That Eucharistic bread and wine make us participate in the eternal life of Jesus and make us all brothers and sisters.
Thus, Christian families that participate in the Eucharist should -far beyond the routine or uncommitted practice- live in a continuous process of transformation, to identify ourselves more and more with the Lord (“we are what we eat” says a famous nutritionist adage) and be more sensitive to others. Living the Eucharist authentically should be a guarantee of a healthy and full family experience. To paraphrase St. John Paul II: “The family that celebrates the Eucharist -which is a bond of unity-… remains united”.

Proposal to take care of the family this week:
Participate in some Eucharist together and then talk about what it has meant for each one.
