Serving the Word: Mt 8: 5-17

SATURDAY, JUNE 27TH.

Matthew 8:5-17:
“Lord, I am not the one to let you come under my roof; just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”

The centurion who comes to Jesus today is a pagan, someone who does not belong to the Jewish people.
But he comes with great faith, with total trust and with great humility.
Jesus recognizes and values these qualities and grants him what he asks. Because Jesus does not distinguish between races and peoples. He looks directly at the heart and knows how to value what is within it.
The centurion teaches us to live our faith.
We repeat his words whenever we participate in the Eucharist before receiving Communion: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed
Pronounce these words giving them all their full meaning if you have not done so before.
Jesus will always renew your hope, strengthen and increase your faith.
Good day.
