Serving the Word: Mt 8, 5-11

Matthew 8, 5-11:
“Lord, I am not worthy for you to come under my roof; just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
The centurion who comes to Jesus today is a pagan, someone who does not belong to the Jewish people.
But he approaches him with enormous faith, with total trust and with great humility.
Jesus recognizes and values these qualities and gives him what he asks of him, because Jesus does not make distinctions between races or peoples. He directs his gaze directly to the heart and knows how to value what is within it.
The centurion teaches us to live our faith. We repeat his words whenever we take part in the Eucharist before receiving Holy Communion: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed”.
Pronounce these words giving them all their depth if you have not done it before. Jesus will always renew your hope, strengthen and increase your faith.
Good day.
