Serving the Word: Mt 5: 38-42

MONDAY 15 JUNE 2020

Matthew 5, 38-42:
“But I say to you.”

Jesus corrects the old law of “an eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth” and goes beyond it.
He tells us to turn the other cheek when we have been struck on one.
That we should give without measure to the one who asks us and not change course when we see him coming.
That we forgive always and unconditionally.
That we respond to evil with good…
And other similar things that call into question our ordinary way of acting.
Jesus wants us to learn the logic of generosity, of Christian charity.
He wants us to work so that his Gospel is really a GOOD NEWS more and more present in our world.
Do your bit to change yourself.
And also work to change the scale of values around us for the scale of values of Jesus.
Good day.
