Serving the Word: Mt 5: 20-26

FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2020

Matthew 5, 20-26:
“If, when you go to lay your gift at the altar, you remember right there that your brother has a complaint against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go and be reconciled with your brother first, and then present your gift again.

Jesus warns us today of a double worship that those of us who consider ourselves his followers may be performing:
* On the one hand, we try to be good to him, we want to please him. And that is why we pray, we participate in some solidarity campaign, we collaborate with one or other NGO, we belong to some fellowship or confraternity, we participate in some processions, we usually go to Mass on Sundays and even during the week…
* But, on the other hand, we are also worshipping our envy and hatred, our laziness and indifference, our injustices and favouritism, our materialism and sensuality, our lack of faith, hope and charity…
Let us work so that we never separate the worship that we give to God from the worship that we must also give to our brother or sister.
The two are inseparable.
Good day.
