Monday 11 March
Matthew 25:31-46:
“Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?. When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome or naked and clothe you?. When did we see you sick or in prison and go to see you?… I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me”.
Throughout Lent, the Church we will be suggesting a few ideas for conversion to the Gospel.
Today she reminds us that our conversion always has to go through our sisters and brothers.
St. John of the Cross tells us that, at the evening of life, they will examine us about love.
This is what Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel: I assure you that every time you did it or not do it to one of these, my most humble sisters or brothers, you did it or neglected to do it to me.
Our Judge will not ask us to account for the prayers undertaken nor of the sacrifices practiced. All the prayers and sacrifices are very good. But only as long as they are aimed at increasing our love and our service to others.
That you see the face and the look of the Lord in every face and every look that you come across on the way. That you see in these faces the invitation for you to serve them and to love them.
Good day.
