Serving the Word: Mt 25: 31-46

MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2020

Matthew 25, 31-46:
“Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you or naked and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?…I tell you, whenever you did it to one of these, the least of these, you did it to me.

The gospel of this Monday of Lent reminds us that our life of following Jesus must always pass through our brothers and sisters.
St. John of the Cross tells us that at the evening of life we will be examined for love.
And this is what Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel: “Truly, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. What you did not do to one of least of these, you did not do to me”.
Our Judge will not ask us to account for the prayers said or the sacrifices made. All the prayers and all the sacrifices are very good. But only if they are aimed at increasing our love and our service to others.
May you see the face and the gaze of the Lord in every face and in every glance that crosses your path.
May you see in those faces the calls that Jesus makes to you to serve them and to love them.
Good day.
