FRIDAY 7 AUGUST
Matthew 16, 24-28:
“If anyone would save his life, he will lose it, but whoever loses it for my sake will find it. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and ruins his life?
The question that Jesus addresses to us today was asked of him by many saints, and it radically changed their lives.
St. Anthony Mary Claret was one of them. He tells us so in his Autobiography:
“In the midst of this uproar of things, while listening to the Holy Mass, I remembered having read since I was a child those words of the Gospel: “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?
This sentence made a deep impression on me. It was for me an arrow that wounded my heart. I thought and pondered what I should do, but to no avail”.
Ask yourself this question today and try to act on it.
Good day.
