Serving the Word: Mt 14: 22-36

MONDAY 3 AUGUST

Matthew 14, 22-36:
“Lord, save me!”

A “mantra” is one or more words that are repeated continuously and incessantly in contemplative prayer.
The word or words gradually pass from the lips and from the mind to the heart.
Today, in the Gospel, one of the shortest “mantras” from all the pages of the Gospel appears: “Lord, save me!
We can say that it is Peter’s “mantra”. But its origin is the reverse: first it comes from the heart and then it is pronounced by the lips.
Make this invocation your own, today and always. Repeat it many times with your mind and with your lips. You will notice that little by little it will also spring forth from your heart: “Lord, save me!
Good day.
