Serving the Word: Mt 12: 46-50

TUESDAY, JULY 21

Matthew 12, 46-50:
“Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

In today’s Gospel, it seems as if Jesus disowned his relatives and even his mother.
But this is not the case. What Jesus wants to make us see and understand is that there are ties with him that are stronger than those of flesh and blood. And they are the bonds of faith. Faith and trust in Him are above all else.
Mary was blessed because she conceived Jesus in her womb.
But she was also blessed because she believed in the Word that was spoken to her by God and that she listened to it so attentively that it became flesh in her womb.
May you be the mother, brother, and sister of Jesus because you always listen to His Word and do the will of the Father.
Good day.
