Serving the Word: Mt 11: 25-30

Matthew 11, 25-30:
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find your rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden light”.

Our attention is directed today to Teresa of Jesus.
This great woman who knew how to combine a deep contemplation with her concern for the reform of the Carmelites, with her journeys in the founding of new monasteries as well as with her skills as a writer.
All facets of her life were united by her ardent love for Jesus.
As she said, “Humility is walking in truth”, the Father uncovered for her what “is hidden from the wise and prudent and reveals it to the little ones”.
In her fatigue and jobs she always went to the Lord and, resting on him, she could say:

“Let nothing disturb you, nothing frighten you, all things are passing, God is unchanging. Patience gains all; nothing is lacking to those who have God: God alone is sufficient.”
And because she also discovered Jesus as nearby and a friend, she was able to leave us in writing one of the best definitions of prayer: “Dealing in friendship with whom we know loves us”.
Recommend today and entrust your life of prayer to Saint Teresa of Jesus. Congratulations to all those who bear the name of this great Carmelite saint.
