Serving the Word: Mt 10, 16-23

FRIDAY, JULY 10

Matthew 10, 16-23:
“He who endures to the end will be saved.”

Jesus does not want us to be misled.
He asks us to follow him.
But he clearly tells us that in following him, joy and happiness are mixed with the cross we are to carry daily behind him.
To follow Jesus and to be with him also means to share his suffering, to be persecuted, to experience misunderstanding and even to give one’s life, as he gave it, to bring about the triumph of his kingdom of justice, love and peace.
We must be his witnesses even in the midst of difficulties.
We have to announce the Gospel even in difficult times when we cannot lose our smile and we have to remain faithful until the final outcome.
During these summer days, you will surely have many occasions to stand up for Jesus in environments, in circumstances, in situations, which are not exactly the most suitable or in accordance with Jesus’ Gospel.
May this word of Jesus always be fulfilled in you: “whoever perseveres to the end will be saved”.
Good day.
