Serving the Word: Mt 1: 18-24

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 18

Matthew 1, 18-24:
“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary, your wife, because the creature in her comes from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you will call him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

The figure of St. Joseph could not be absent in Advent. Today he appears in the scene as he always appears in the Gospel: open to the ways of the Lord.
Joseph is the man who sees, believes, suffers, remains silent, waits and obeys.
Different scenarios would pass through his head. But when he saw the path that God marked for him, because he wanted it, Joseph did not hesitate to commit himself and accept his will with all the consequences.
He assumed from faith that God was at work in his life and in Mary’s life and he lives this mysterious reality with gratitude.
Ask the Lord, through the intercession of St. Joseph, that you always accept his plans and be able to carry them out every day of your life.
And ask St. Joseph to help you prepare for Christmas with the same affection that he would prepare for the birth of Jesus.
Good day.
