Serving the Word: Mk 9: 14-29

MONDAY 24 FEBRUARY 2020

Mark 9, 14-29:
“I believe, but help my lack of faith.”

Today’s Gospel passage is a continuation, in St. Mark’s Gospel, of the Transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor.
Jesus does not stay on the mountain, but goes down with the three disciples who have been witnesses of his glory, to take care of the things of men.
And, as always, he takes care of their problems and their needs.
He meets a father who asks for the healing of his son. A father who has a nascent faith in Jesus.
But he is also a man who asks Jesus to increase his faith.
Jesus takes the child by the hand and, after curing his illness, puts the child on his feet.
Everything is possible to the one who has faith. Ask Jesus today by making your own the prayer that this father once addressed to Jesus: “I believe, but help my lack of faith”.
You will see that Jesus also takes you by the hand and puts you on your feet.
Good day.
