Serving the Word: Mk 8: 22-26

WEDNESDAY 19th February 2020

Mark 8, 22-26:
“Jesus led him out of the village, took him by the hand, smeared spittle on his eyes, laid his hands on him and asked, ‘Do you see anything? And he lifted up his eyes and said, “I see men; they look like trees to me, but they are walking”. He put his hands on his eyes again; the man looked up: he was cured and saw everything clearly.

Once again we witness the healing of a blind man by Jesus.
But this blind man does not immediately regain his sight after Jesus first puts saliva on his eyes.
His faith has not entirely dispelled the darkness that covers his eyes. For that reason, Jesus has not been able to fully perform the miracle on his sight.
But in a second moment, when the faith of that blind man reaches its fullness, Jesus again lays his hands on his eyes and the clarity also takes over in fullness of his whole person.
In the same way, we advance and progress in our life of faith.
We too are advancing and progressing in our trust in Jesus.
Ask the Lord powerfully today to increase your faith.
Make your own that short prayer that the Apostle Peter addressed to him: “Lord, I believe, but increase my faith”.
Good day.
