Serving the Word: Mk 9: 14-29

Mark 9, 14-29:
“I believe, but help my lack of faith”.

The part of today’s Gospel is a continuation, in Mark’s Gospel, of Jesus’ Transfiguration on Mount Tabor.
Jesus does not remain on the mountain but goes down with the three disciples that have been witnesses of his glory, to deal with the things of men.
And, as always, he is concerned about their problems and needs.
He meets a father who requests the cure of his child. A father who has an emerging faith in Jesus.
But he is also a man who asks Jesus to increase his faith.
Jesus takes the child by the hand and, after curing his illness, stands the child up.
Everything is possible to those who have faith. Ask Jesus today, making your own the prayer that this father one day addressed to Jesus: “I believe, but help my lack of faith”.
You’ll find that Jesus also takes you by the hand and puts you on your feet.
Good day
