Serving the Word: Lk 4: 38-44

Luke 4, 38-44:
“Leaving the synagogue, Jesus went to Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever and they asked him to do something for her. Leaning over her he rebuked the fever and it left her and she immediately got up and began to wait on them.”

When tiredness, routine and apathy overcome us, we feel that all of these “fevers” leave us without strength.
But we must never doubt the saving and healing power of Jesus. When he gives us his hand and lifts us up with his power, healing our “fevers” and weariness, making all our ills disappear.
And the same healing power of Jesus pushes us to leave our “fevers” and weariness and put ourselves in an attitude of total service to others without giving rise to laziness.
Today present Jesus with all of your “fevers” and debilities. Give them names and speak them in his saving presence.
Let yourself be held by his mighty hand. Let yourself be lifted by the force of his word.
And feel that he sends you to tirelessly serve others.
Good day.
