Serving the Word: Lk 24: 13-35

Luke 24, 13 – 35:
“Stay with us. It is nearly evening, and the day is almost over.”

Two disciples of Jesus are fleeing from Jerusalem after the sad events of Good Friday.
They are walking in disappointment, in sorrow, in pain, in despair…
Along the way, a fellow traveler joins them. It is Jesus himself who is hidden from their eyes.
This companion along the way questions them. And, from their responses, he explains to them from the Word of God the events that have been happening.
The three, at dusk, sit at the table for their supper. And when the stranger breaks the bread, the eyes of the two walkers are opened and they recognize Jesus.
Without realizing it, the risen Jesus also walks with you.
Let his words inflame your heart.
Let the bread of the Eucharist make you acknowledge his presence.
And let his Word and his Eucharist encourage you to announce the good news of the Resurrection as it gave impetus to these two disciples.
Continue to live and continue to announce the resurrection of Jesus.
Good day.
