Serving the Word: Lk 13, 31-35

Thursday 31 October

Luke 13, 31-35:
“Some Pharisees approached Jesus to tell him: “Get out of here, because Herod wants to kill you.” He replied: “Go and give that fox this message: “Learn that today and tomorrow I cast out demons and on the third day attain my end. But for today and tomorrow and the next day I must go on”.

Jesus annoyed the political and religious power of his time. His words and actions were not always to the liking of the political and religious authorities.
But Jesus is clear about his mission. He has come to teach us how to be children of God and brothers and sisters of one another. He has come to establish values which are the values of the Kingdom of God. And there is no threat which through fear can stop his mission. He will always continue healing and casting out demons. He will always continue refreshing and giving dignity to the human person above all. How it costs us to be witnesses of our faith in the midst of the contradictions and difficulties! How many times do we keep silent when we should be brave and give our word as Christians and believers! And how many times we hide our Christian identity because we fear speaking out against the latest craze or fashion!
Ask today for the many Christians who are speaking out about their faith even at the cost of their lives.
And also seek for yourself the strength to be a courageous Christian.
Good day.
